There are few data available on the corrosivity of demineralized water. A highly- conductivity solution easily transport current, whereas a solution with low conductivity transport current less effectively. In general as the concentration of dissolved species in the solution increases, the conductivity increases, and in general, as the conductivity of the solution increases, the corrosion of metals in that solution increases.
The study carried out compares the corrosivity of tap water with that of deionized water in terms of contact angles (wettability), corrosion rates, oxygen concentration, pH and conductiviy.
