The activities are the following:
CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
The Chemical Analysis Laboratory of the Technologic Centre for Steel and Metallic Materials has the necessary infrastructure to chemically characterise a great variety of materials:
Advanced instrumental techniques are available, such as:
It is also possible to perform "in situ" chemical analysis on plates, welded joints, pipes, screws, bridles, etc (Positive Identification of Materials).
Not least important for the Technological Services Department is the technical reliability of the results we give our clients. To achieve this, we have highly qualified staff in each area, with a continuous training process that assures the quality of our results.
The laboratory is accredited by ENAC for the performance of chemical analysis in steels and base alloys: nickel, zinc and aluminium, as well as to determine C and S through combustion and further absorption in the IR according to the reach that can be checked in www.enac.es
MECHANICAL CHARACTERIZATION
The laboratory of the department offers the necessary equipment and technology to determine the fundamental mechanical properties, both in metallic and in their welded joints. This is essential to predict the in service behaviour of the materials in use. Next, the material typologies and the testing service are summarized:
An important part of the mechanical characterization laboratory's workload involves tests requested by companies related to the welding field and its different sectors: capital goods manufacturers, metallic constructions, shipping industry, etc. This companies need to qualify their proceedings, their welders and to test the markers of production.
