Corrosion management and fitness for service

Corrosion studies and materials selection  Corrosion management and fitness for service   Corrosion protective coatings

The inspection and maintenance evolution during the last years has evolved from corrective maintenance systems to risk-based philosophies. The updated corrosion management systems establish inspection priorities based on a specific risk of failure (Risk Based Inspection, RBI), complementing with fitness for service evaluation methodologies.

At ITMA we are developing proprietary methodologies based on the RBI philosophy to provide services to companies related to this activity.

The scope of the activities in the fitness for service field is based on the levels 1 and 2 of the API 579 standard related to the following phenomena:

  • General metal loss
  • Local metal loss
  • Pitting corrosion
  • Hydrogen blisters and hydrogen damage
  • Fire damage
